Who we are
Descubre Ronda is a free, independent and ad-free app for discovering the heritage, hiking trails, festivals and useful information of Ronda and the Serranía de Ronda. It is not run by Ronda Town Council or by any other public body or company.
What data we collect
No sign-up or user account is needed. You don’t have to give us your name, email or phone number to use the app. We only collect personal data if you choose to write to us through the “Tell us something” form. The data the app handles is:
- Information stored only on your own device: things like the monuments or trails you mark as “visited”/“done”, the language you chose, or the event reminders you turn on are stored only in your phone’s local storage. They are never sent to any server, and they are deleted if you uninstall the app.
- App content (monuments, trails, festivals, useful phone numbers): downloaded from a cloud database to keep it up to date. It is public information about Ronda — the app does not send any of your data in exchange for it.
- Local notifications: if you turn on a reminder for an event, the app schedules a local notification on your own phone through the operating system, with your permission. No data is sent to a server.
- “Tell us something” form (optional): if you choose to send us a message, we store the name (or nickname) and the message you write, and your email only if you provide it (it is optional; it is only needed if you want us to reply). We use them only to read your comments and, if you left an email, to reply to you. Messages are deleted periodically and, at most, 30 days after we receive them. If you ask us to delete yours sooner, write to the contact email at the end of this page.
Who we share data with
We use Google Firebase (Firestore) as a database to serve the app’s information (monuments, trails, festivals, phone numbers) and to store the messages you send us through the “Tell us something” form. Firebase privacy information.
We do not use ads or tracking tools (advertising ID, pixels, etc.), and we do not sell or share data with anyone else.
Links to other apps
Buttons such as “Call” or “Directions” open your phone app or Google Maps respectively. Those external apps have their own privacy policies, separate from Descubre Ronda.
Children
Descubre Ronda is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly request or collect personal data from children. As no sign-up is required, the only personal data possible is what someone voluntarily writes in the contact form; if we find that a child has sent us personal data, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the way the app works changes. If there are important changes, we will update the date above.
